All nations played by the players are members of the Republic of the Round Table during the game.
The Republic does not exist as an entity in the computer game EUIV, but elements of it will appear there via our MOD. There will be Avalon as a nation, with its army and treasures, and there will be advisors sent by Arthur (the Overlord). There may be even more…
The Republic exists on the role-play level of the event, and participants can explore the Republic via interactions with NPCs and during role-play events. The most important part of this experience will be voting during the Assembly.
When all member nations of the Republic gather to vote for a new law, it is called the Assembly.
The event will be divided into chapters, each ending with the Assembly during which new laws can be established, and important decisions are made. Participants will be presented with a choice a few hours before the Assembly. There will be time to consider options, think of consequences, strategize around them, and persuade others to support one option or another. Players are free and encouraged to create political parties. During some Assemblies, there will be extra time to present other ideas for new laws by participants.
How votes count will change during each Assembly and sometimes can even be a subject of a vote.
We start our event shortly after new Arthur is elected (also called the Overlord). Together with a team of his trusted advisors, he sits in Avalon, from where he oversees the Republic. Each member of his government can support Lords of the Republic with gifts. Those gifts are called favors, and they are an in-game currency.
To get a favor from an NPC, a participant needs to fulfill the NPC’s wishes. In exchange, the NPC can grant a player a favor or other gift (borrow some army, send ducats, etc.). Favors can be exchanged for many different resources, but all exchanges will be controlled by Merlin (Speaker of the House) to keep it balanced and not destructive for the gameplay.
Once a nation unlocks the espionage idea, it can use favors to exchange for information about other nations of the Republic. Each query will be priced individually, and reaching for it too often may be considered rude by the Spymistress, who knows all.
