Introduction

Turbolarp welcomes you to the 2021 Europa Universalis IV Virtual Party, in partnership with Paradox Interactive! We are happy to invite you to spend an amazing couple of days conquering the world together.

This will not be about competition or prizes, we are all here to have fun and play with our friends! With a bit of luck, you might even find a new friend or two. We are aiming for this event to be a light-hearted virtual party, and you are encouraged to roleplay the nation(s) you control. We hope the upcoming gameplay will create an epic story of a world history that could have been but never was.

Games Masters (GMs)

Games Masters will be present throughout the game, will have the final say in the interpretation of rules, and may change the rules as they see fit in specific circumstances. Changes to the rules will not be made lightly, though, and any changes will be announced to all participants at the first opportunity.

We have rules for a reason and sometimes, accidentally or intentionally, they get broken. When this happens, we as GMs and Organisers will look at the rules that have been broken and in what manner, and decide on a course of action. Depending on the situation and previous offences this might be anything from paying a few ducats in reparations to significant in-game penalties to temporary or permanent removal from the game. If you should break the Code of Conduct, disrupt the event in a major way or exhibit particularly bad behaviour or judgment, we will reserve the right to remove you from the event without refund.

While our decision is final and non-negotiable, everyone involved will be included in a dialogue with us before any punitive action is taken.

In-game Chat

Chat will be available in the EUIV client during the game, but players are encouraged to communicate through Discord wherever possible so as not to fill the game screen with messages that may obscure the interface. Use of the game chat should be restricted to announcing things that all players need to know about immediately, for example, if you have paused the game you may announce the reason for the pause to other players.

Stream

The game will be streamed online via official Paradox Interactive channels. It is almost certain that your actions in the game will be broadcast, and there is a chance you will be invited to directly contribute to the stream. All in-game actions and published content on any official Paradox or Turbolarp media (including the Discord and social media) must not breach the Code of Conduct.

Safety Rules

The safety and comfort of our participants, crew, and audience are very important to us. Please take a moment to read our universal safety rules for this event and to familiarise yourself with our Safety Policy, Code of Conduct, and Anti-Harassment Policy.

• We will use a universal opt-in/opt-out rule during the game. This means that all components of the event (including role-playing elements) are optional, if you don’t wish to participate, you don’t have to.
• We are all there to have a good time. Please be mindful of others and remember that we are coming from a diverse set of areas, there will be differences in levels of EUIV experience and gaming cultures.
• Please remember to differentiate between a player and their nation. In the fervor of the game and in the midst of diplomacy, harsh words might be spoken. Remember to always direct them at the nation, not at the player. For example, cursing at another player is against the Code of Conduct, while cursing their nation is not.
• In case of any problems (with the game, other participants, your team, etc.), please let us know as soon as possible. We will do our best to fix the issues, but we can’t fix what we don’t know about.
• Please take a moment to read our Code of Conduct and Anti-Harassment Policy, we expect all our participants to read it before the event.

Teams and Nations
