If you are not familiar with this tool so far, we strongly recommend you to go through the information at the main Discord webpage. Basic knowledge of this app will be crucial during the event. There are also many useful videos on YouTube that explain the core functionalities.

Why Discord?

During the previous editions of EU4 The Grandest Lan Party all the participants, organisers and PDX team met at the magnificent Moszna Castle in Poland. Some of the castle rooms were transformed into a gameplay zone with computers placed all over the castle, but at the same time there was plenty of room for socialising next to the fireplace or during the meals. Teams were free to have secret meetings in one of the Chambers or during a walk at the Castle Grounds.

Discord is our way to emulate this via the Internet.

The Discord server will be accessible only to players, Turbolarp Game Masters and the Paradox Interactive team. It will be our main communication channel for the event including:

• All announcements from GMs.
• Negotiations with other teams.
• Tech support for the Parsec client.
• Public announcements.
• Reporting inappropriate behaviour to GMs.
• Socialising, sending memes, and chatting to other players

As a participant, you will also use Discord to:

• Create pacts with other teams
• Start secret communication between teams
• Interact with NPCs
• Take part in video briefings and court hearing
• Use built in ‘randomiser’ features if needed

Channels

Discord can serve all these functions thanks to its channel structure.

On the event server, we have created numerous channels with self-explanatory functions.
